Daniel Morrissey

Daniel Morrissey (died 1981) was a senior Irish politician who sat in Dáil Éireann for thirty-five years.

He was a native of Nenagh, County Tipperary

He was first elected to the 3rd Dáil in the 1922 general election as a Labour Party Teachta Dála (TD) for Tipperary Mid, North and South. He stood in the 1932 general election as an Independent candidate, but joined Cumann na nGaedhael the following year.

In the First Inter-Party Government, he was appointed to the Cabinet under John A. Costello in 1948 as Minister for Industry & Commerce. In 1954, he declined accepting a cabinet position in the Second Inter-Party Government due to his age. Morrissey was elected to Dáil Éireann at every election until 1957 when he retired from politics.
